Scotland Challenge for Old Wellies - Coast to Coast
Wells Cathedral School teachers Jonathan Barnard, Ken Padgett and Jihan El-Labany are taking part in an exciting race called 'Coast to Coast' in Scotland on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September 2010. They are organising it as an old Wellensian event (as participants have to be over 18 years of age to enter).
It is a two day adventure where you will be racing across Scotland (from Nairn to Glencoe) via means of running, cycling and kayaking in three stages per day.
You will have an overnight camp on Saturday at Fort Augustus.
The cost to enter the event is £150 (not including the Friday night accommodation, food and transport to Scotland, which the school can arrange for you)
You will need all of your own kit - except the kayaking equipment.
If you don't have a mountain bike, they charge £85 to hire one, so try to borrow one if you can (road bikes are not suitable but hybrids are)
You would need to travel up on Friday 17th September and will either come back late on the Sunday19th or on the Monday 20th (TBC)
Take a look at the following website for more information about the event http://www.scotlandcoasttocoast.com/challenger.html
If you are interested in joining the team in what is certain to be a wonderful adventure, then please contact Jihan on j.el-labany@wellscs.somerset.sch.uk
Please let any old Wellensians, who you think might be interested, also know.
If you could please register your interest before the 21st June to avoid disappointment as places are selling out fast!
